𝟘𝟚 . πŸ˜πŸ™ Client and Villa

Client:

Planetary explorer - wishes to research the mysteries around Es Vedra. Retired Astronaut, now avid stargazer and explorer captivated by the sky above Ibiza and the mystery shrouding Es Vedra. Fascinated by the flow of time, time travel and what is beyond the stars.

To design for a β€˜bespoke’ client was the goal when imagining the brief and writing a profile; an out-of-this-world challenge.

Brief:

  • Needs an observation deck

  • Must be secluded and situated in a high place with Es Vedra visible.

  • Keen on innovation that allows the villa to be as self-sustaining as can be

  • Will spend most of his time there so must be well equipped.

  • Would like a library and artefact room as well as a study for research.

  • A courtyard is more important than a pool.

  • Would like it to look like a foreign object, poised peacefully within a natural setting.

To begin to fulfil this brief, initial ideas for the villa were sketched. The ideas were then modelled in Sketchup and rhino before being modified. Through experimentation, the most interesting parts that came from the design were the intersections between the two halves of the model.

Software:

Sketchup Pro

Rhino 6

Responding to the site is vitally important to make the villa appear β€˜poised peacefully within a natural setting’. For this, I carried out some research:

Es Vedra

Unattainable, shrouded in legend and mystery. Isolated, untouched and uninhabitable. Disconnected and individual. Visitors gravitate toward it, but can only catch a glimpse. The terrain is hostile but beautiful; Limestone.
